The theme for World Maritime Day 2022 is “New Technologies for Greener Shipping.” With that, the keel was laid for the premier all-electric, zero-carbon emission cargo vessel, Hydromover.

DM Sea Logistics (DMSL), an industry partner in the Goal Zero Consortium for the Harbourcraft Electrification Joint Industrial Project, attended its keel laying ceremony on September 28, 2022.

SeaTech lead by Goal Zero Consortium is one of three winning proposals to receive the grant from Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI). The 18.5 meter lightweight craft is packed with energy efficient, low-maintenance and ground-breaking technology such as swappable batteries, advanced vessel management system and sensors for autonomous operations. With this, it aims to cut down carbon emission and reduce the operational costs substantially. Visit https://www.yinson.com/highlights/YGT-Hydromover-keel-laying-ceremony/ for more details.

A big congratulations to all consortium members on this milestone, and we look forward towards making Goal Zero a success.

About the project

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) have awarded funding to three consortiums led by Keppel FELS Limited, SeaTech Solutions and Sembcorp Marine, and comprising a total of 30 enterprises and research institutions, to research, design, build and operate a fully electric harbourcraft over the next five years. These electrification pilot projects will demonstrate both commercial and technical viability of specific use cases for full electric harbourcraft and will support Singapore’s broader plans to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by the maritime transport sector.
